As a result of the dreadful weather, the service had to be moved indoors and the large garages were set up accordingly to accommodate. The members of the battalion, along with the families of the bereaved and seriously injured, gathered for a drumhead service which was naturally an extremely emotional occasion. Prayers were said and hymns sung for the fallen, accompanied by the regimental band of The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.
