Comfort Parcels for the
Troops
The fantastic members of the
website "Support Our Soldiers" are constantly raising funds via
donations to allow
them to send comfort and morale boosting parcels to the troops in Iraq, Afghanistan,
and wounded soldiers at Selly Oak hospital, Birmingham.

All have donated to the "Freddie
Fund" by way of purchasing yellow ribbon pin badges and Craig would like to
contribute back from the fund by way of donation to allow the SOS team to
continue to keep these very important parcels flowing. Having been on the
receiving end of "comfort parcels" from home, Craig knows just how important
it is for the guys and gals, either at war or in hospital, to get a morale boost
from a box of goodies from back home.
Unfortunately the "ridiculous" cost
from the Royal Mail reduces the amount that is usually sent, but following extensive petitions by Craig's mum Debbie, and also the team at
SOS who have lobbied continuously and met with ministers, the government
have agreed to subsidise far more and the cost will be reduced. The MOD does
not charge for the transport of the parcels but the Royal Mail charges for
the delivery to the British Forces Post Office in Wiltshire.
The Freddie Fund will be
contributing towards the SOS comfort parcels project for the troops and
injured, and is aiming to make a sizeable donation as the fund grows.
