St
Dunstan's - Brighton

Craig was very
kindly invited to spend a week in Brighton at St Dunstan's, a rehabilitation
centre for blind ex-service men and women, which he greatly accepted, even
though he is still in service at this time.
Following the 5
hour journey to Brighton, Craig arrived at 5:30 pm to be greeted by his
guide for the week, Martin. Martin, a former Royal Marine and
Policeman, was blinded in an accident 30 years ago and now works for St
Dunstan's.
Craig was given
a tour and orientation of the building and settled into his room. This was followed by his
first appearance in the dining room for supper with the residents.
He was surprised
to realise that he was the youngest of the residents by a mere difference of
about 45 years!

A Briefing
followed which outlined the program for the week's activities which were all
designed to help Craig adjust to being a "blindy" as they like to call
themselves in St Dunstan's.
Later, Craig was
introduced to some of the other residents as they socialised in the bar and
was greeted as quite a celebrity due to his reason for being there, and his
mere
21 years on the clock.
